If an insane top speed and a super-long range are crucial factors for your riding needs, the Thunder 3’s speed and mileage will take care of your needs. Also, definitely consider this scooter if you’re after the bleeding edge in quality and design.
When not to buy
The Dualtron Thunder 3 will likely be above the planned budget of many buyers. I would also not recommend this scooter to first-time owners, as well as urban commuters because of its lack of portability.
I had a chance to test the Dualtron Thunder 3 for a few weeks. After my test, I can say it’s a thrilling ride that seamlessly combines speed, power, and cutting-edge technology.
Let’s explore the features, design, and performance that make the Dualtron Thunder 3 one of the best electric scooters ever (and I almost never say that!).

Before taking it for a ride, ensure that all components are tightened and secured. Don’t forget to charge the scooter’s battery if it’s not fully charged.

Let’s explore the performance of Dualtron Thunder 3 next.
Motor
The Dualtron Thunder 3 boasts a motor system that has undergone a significant redesign, featuring larger magnets and increased copper content.
With a formidable power output of 2500W per motor and a combined power of 5400W, these BLDC hub motors enhance the motor’s efficiency and deliver unparalleled power across diverse terrains.
Speed and speed test
The Dualtron Thunder 3 official speed is 62 mph / 100 kmh.
According to the tests I’m pretty sure that the scooter can achieve the official speed.
After riding the scooter I can say that the Dualtron Thunder 3 can provide a thrilling yet secure experience.
Riding this scooter at 44 mph / 70.8 kmh felt exciting enough for me, and I didn’t dare to ride it at a higher speed, but the ride was surprisingly secure.

Range and range test
The Dualtron Thunder 3’s official range is 78 mil / 125 km, making it the ideal choice for riders engaged in long-distance commuting, leisurely cruises, and off-road adventures.
I was able to commute from home to my workplace for one week until the batteries were fully drained.

The Dualtron Thunder 3 official climb angle is 35° / 70%, making it one of the best electric scooters for climbing hills.

Battery and charging
While the Dualtron Thunder 3 boasts impressive features and performance, its charging capabilities might leave some riders wanting more.
The inclusion of a small 1.4-amp charger raises concerns about the efficiency and speed of the charging process. With this charger, the Thunder 3 demands patience, taking 28 hours to reach a full charge from an empty battery.
Despite the prolonged wait, the scooter offers the convenience of multiple charging ports, with one supporting fast charging.
The protective caps on these ports shield them from dirt and environmental elements.
Ride experience
I find pure exhilaration in riding the Dualtron Thunder 3, a scooter that caters to the enthusiastic spirit. The scooter conquers steep hills on various terrains without a problem delivering great acceleration. The scooter’s stability, wide handlebars, and solid locking mechanism ensure a confident and wobble-free ride.
Navigating through urban streets was an exciting experience, as the Thunder 3 responds with precision, effortlessly weaving through the bustling cityscape.
While the 1.4-amp charger may test my patience during recharges, the IPX5 water resistance protected the scooter well during rainy days.

Dualtron Thunder 3 vs other scooters
Let’s compare Dualtron Thunder 3 to its rivals – the Thunder 2, the Dualtron Storm, and the Kaabo Wolf King GTR.
Dualtron Thunder 3 vs Dualtron Thunder 2
While being siblings and having a lot of similarities, there are a few differences that we should mention between these two scooters.
The Dualtron Thunder 2 definitely beats Its sibling Dualtron Thunder 3 with a slightly bigger range of 106 mi / 170 km.
The braking systems on the Thunder 2 and Thunder 3 electric scooters showcase notable differences. The Thunder 2 is equipped with dual Nutt hydraulic brakes, providing effective stopping power for a controlled ride. On the other hand, the Thunder 3 takes it a step further with an upgraded braking system featuring 4-piston Nutt hydraulic brakes.
Dualtron Thunder 3 vs Kaabo Wolf King GTR
When considering the Thunder 3 in comparison to the Kaabo Wolf King GTR, several factors lean in favor of the Thunder 3.
The Thunder 3 boasts a powerful dual 50 amp controller with a 65 amp overtake function, providing exceptional control and acceleration.
Its 72V 40Ah LG M50LT 21700 battery, although requiring around 28 hours for a full charge (6 hours with a fast charger), delivers an impressive maximum mileage of 100 mi. In terms of speed, the GTR outpaces the Dualtron Thunder 3 by a little bit, reaching 65 mph compared to the Thunder’s top speed of 62 mph.
The Thunder 3 features an adjustable cartridge front and rear suspension, offering riders the ability to customize their ride comfort and adapt to different terrains. Kaabo Wolf King GTR has dual suspension with 18 step damping. We can say that both scooters offer advanced suspension systems.
Dualtron Thunder 3 vs Dualtron Storm
Both scooters are similarly priced. But let’s talk about their differences.
Both scooters have robust batteries, but the Thunder 3 is slightly better with a 40Ah capacity, offering up to 100 mi of range compared to the Storm’s 35Ah and 90 mi.
Also, the Thunder 3 offers a more advanced and customizable lighting system.
Both scooters feature advanced braking systems, with the Storm having NUTT discs-hydraulic + magnetic assistance, and the Thunder 3 equipped with 4-piston nutt hydraulic brakes.

The tubeless wheels significantly reduce the risk of getting a flat tire and allow simple repair in the event of tire damage. The tires are easily replaceable thanks to the modular wheel structure.
Brakes
The Dualtron Thunder 3 prioritizes rider safety with its cutting-edge braking system.
Featuring 4-piston Nutt hydraulic brakes with a substantial diameter of 160 mm, these brakes deliver formidable stopping power.
The integrated cooling system ensures consistent performance even during intense use. The innovative double-action caliper enhances braking strength, providing a reliable means to come to a swift and controlled stop from any speed. The addition of electronic ABS prevents wheel locking during hard braking.
Suspension
The Dualtron Thunder 3 presents a unique approach to suspension adjustments, featuring rubber elastomer cartridges for both front and rear suspension. I don’t like that the suspension can’t be changed on the go.
This limitation could be an important factor for riders valuing quick, on-the-fly adjustments to accommodate diverse terrains and personal preferences.
Display
The EY4 display on the Dualtron Thunder 3 goes beyond aesthetics, serving as a valuable tool for riders. This brand-new Bluetooth-enabled display offers a larger, more graphically refined interface compared to its predecessor.
Providing comprehensive data about the scooter’s performance and health enhances the rider’s ability to monitor key metrics. Notably, the EY4 display boasts IPX7 water resistance, ensuring durability in wet conditions.
The addition of Bluetooth connectivity introduces modern convenience, allowing users to access and customize settings with ease.
Light
The Dualtron Thunder 3 stands out with its impressive lights, making it a head-turner day or night. With under-deck halo lights, customizable LEDs, and bright headlights, it ensures visibility.
Enhanced from its predecessor, it adds two powerful headlights on the steering rod and LED deck lights. Rear lights, direction lights, and a brake LED strip on the raised deck boost safety in urban settings and low visibility conditions.
Waight, dimension, and weight limit
The Dualtron Thunder 3 boasts a robust build with a weight of 57.4 kg / 112.9 lbs. The weight limit of 120 kg / 265 lbs, can accommodate a wide range of riders, especially heavier riders.

I didn’t get the chance to test the scooter during rainy or wet conditions.

The Dualtron Thunder 3 introduces a Turbo mode and kick-start feature.
Turbo mode can boost the controller output up to 65 amps per controller delivering excellent acceleration. The turbo mode lasts for 5 seconds, which can leave you craving for more.
Also, the scooter provides a “kick-start” feature which acts as a safeguard against unintended starts from a standstill, enhancing rider control and safety.
Accessories
The helmet is essential, but other accessories can enhance your scooter’s utility or enjoyment.
Investing in a sturdy lock helps deter theft, especially when leaving your scooter in public places.

Problems and trade-offs
While the Dualtron Thunder 3 offers a thrilling and powerful electric scooter experience, you should consider some potential drawbacks.
The charging time for the Dualtron Thunder 3 can be a potential trade-off for riders seeking faster refueling.
This relatively extended charging period might test rider patience. But don’t forget that you can always buy a charger for fast charging and the charging time will be around 6 hours.
Also, the scooter’s suspension adjustment process, requiring disassembly for gasket changes, can be a time-consuming task.
Another consideration is the limited on-the-go suspension adjustments, which might impact riders who prioritize adaptability to varying terrains.
Despite these considerations, the Thunder 3 remains a formidable choice for those seeking a high-performance electric scooter adventure.
Verdict
This has definitely been one of my favorite scooters ever.
With its excellent motor power, impressive hill-climbing capabilities, and potent dual 50A controller for adrenaline-pumping acceleration, it caters to thrill-seekers. The scooter’s stability, aided by wide foldable handlebars and a rock-solid locking mechanism, instills confidence during rides. Noteworthy features include four-piston hydraulic brakes, regenerative braking, and a responsive suspension system.
Overall, the Dualtron Thunder 3 excels in performance, making it a formidable choice for electric scooter afficionados. Get it if you’re after amazing performance, top-notch quality, and cutting-edge technology when it comes to electric scooters.
