This is an upgrade to an already evergreen scooter, so get the Dualtron Spider 2 if you’re after long range, great top speed, amazing climbing angle, and strong performance in general.

When not to buy

Budget limitations may limit some buyers from getting this scooter. Also, I don’t recommend this scooter for beginners, first-time owners, and casual commuters who may be served better by a lighter, cheaper scooter.

In this comprehensive review of the Dualtron Spider 2 electric scooter, I will describe what I liked and what I didn’t like about it, and we will explore the reasons why this newer Dualtron model may be the right choice for some.

Basics

dualtron spider 2

Dualtron is the most famous brand for powerful electric scooters. They are a long-running brand, first established in South Korea. They have continuously been on the top of the food chain, and are often considered the best electric scooter brand ever, especially regarding power scooters like Dualtron Spider 2.

Unboxing and assembly

The scooter comes in a gigantic box.

The first thing you are going to see when you open the box will be the handlebars and the charger, the user manual, and a lot of styrofoam.

You’ll need to unfold the scooter and set the handlebars.

The fender has a spider-ish design, and the power button and the charging port are between the deck and the stem, behind the front tire.

Overall, the scooter is pretty easy to unbox and assemble.

Performance

Let’s explore the most important things about every scooter. As we all know most of the things about one vehicle depend on the motor and its power.

Here we will explore the motor, the speed, the range, the climb angle, and the battery of Dualtron Spider 2.

Motor

The Dualtron Spider 2 boasts a formidable motor system with real power reaching 1320W and a peak power of 3600W. The powerful BLDC dual hub motor is made from aluminum alloy with magnesium admixture.

The motor’s build quality and build materials enhance the strength and reduce weight, contributing to its lightweight frame.

Speed and speed test

The official top speed of Dualtron Spider 2 is 44 mph / 70 kmh.

It’s important to note that the actual speed achieved may vary based on factors such as rider weight, road conditions, state of charge, and ambient temperature.

During my test ride, I personally achieved a notable speed of 34 mph / 55 kmh, though I must confess that I held back from reaching the official top speed.

This hesitation was driven by a mix of caution and excitement, as the scooter undoubtedly possesses the potential to meet or even surpass its declared top speed.

If you are looking for an even faster electric scooter check my article on the fastest electric scooters.

Range and range test

The official range of the Dualtron Spider 2 24Ah version is 50 mi / 80 km and the official range of the 30Ah version is 75 mi / 120 km. The latter is definititely on the list of the longest-range electric scooters in the world.

In my city commuting experience, I covered a solid 46 mi / 74 km with the 24Ah version. This scooter’s robust range means worry-free rides without constant battery recharge concerns.

Climb and climb test

The Dualtron Spider 2 isn’t just about speed and range, it’s equipped to conquer challenging terrains, including steep hills.

With a climbing grade of 43% / 23°, it ensures the power to ascend any steep hill.

This capability, however, varies with rider weight and the state of charge.

Based on my experience, the scooter effortlessly tackled inclines during my rides, proving its prowess in navigating hilly terrain.

My tests confirmed that the combination of speed, range, and hill-climbing ability makes the Dualtron Spider 2 a versatile and reliable electric scooter for riders seeking performance and hill-climbing abilities.

Battery and charging

battery spider 2

The Dualtron Spider 2 offers battery options with either LG 21700 cells (30 Ah) or SincPower 21700 cells (24 Ah).

Opting for the PRO version ensures the high-quality LG 21700 cells, known for their excellence and longevity. These cells boast a lifespan of up to four years, providing a reliable and enduring power source. This is the battery I tested the scooter with, and it is the one I recommend.

To maximize the battery’s life, it’s crucial to maintain a dry environment, shielding it from the negative impact of air humidity.

Additionally, the scooter incorporates a kinetic energy recovery system, a feature that contributes to optimizing the overall battery performance.

Ride experience

During my ride on the Dualtron Spider 2, the powerful performance became evident as I effortlessly cruised through the city streets. The speed added a thrilling edge to my commute, and I could feel the smooth acceleration from the robust 3600W BLDC dual hub motor. Navigating through traffic and conquering inclines was a breeze, showcasing the scooter’s versatility.

The impressive range made my city commute a pleasant surprise, ensuring I could cover my daily routes without worrying about recharging.

Overall, my ride on the Dualtron Spider 2 was marked by a perfect blend of speed, range, and adaptability, making it a standout choice for urban commuting and beyond.

Dualtron Spider 2 vs other scooters

Let’s compare the Dualtron Spider 2 to its Dualtron siblings and other scooters in the market.

Dualtron Spider 2 vs Dualtron Victor

dualtron spider 2 vs dualtron victor

When it comes to comparing these two scooters, even though they are similarly priced, there are a few differences that we need to mention.

First of all, there are small differences in their speed. Namely, the Spider can achieve a speed of 39.7 mph / 64 kmh while the Dualtron Victor has a slightly higher speed of 46 mph / 74 kmh.

Even though they have the same range, Dualtron Spider 2 is lighter and has a lower charging time, which makes this scooter more portable and more time-efficient for your daily city commute.

Their battery power and their range are the same.

Dualtron Spider 2 vs Kaabo Wolf King GTR

spider 2 vs Kaabo Wolf King GTR

Despite having better range and speed, the Kaabo Wolf King GTR is heavier, pricier, and more complicated to maintain. If you are looking for a scooter for commuting, it will not be the perfect choice for you.

Even though the Spider’s speed and range are a little bit lower, it’s a better scooter for commuting. Dualtron Spider 2 has a shorter charging time, it’s easier to maintain, is lighter, and is cheaper. Plus, despite all of this, it has a pretty good climbing angle.

If you are looking for a practical and good commuter with a good climb angle Dualtron Spider 2 is the perfect choice for you. Maybe consider the Kaabo Wolf King GTR if you are after extreme levels of power.

Dualtron Spider 2 vs Dualtron Achilleus

The Dualtron Achilleus and the Dualtron Spider 2 present distinct strengths in their design and performance.

The Achilleus, equipped with dual motors, can reach a top speed of 49 mph / 78 kmh.

It boasts hydraulic brakes with additional magnetic braking, providing unmatched stopping power, whereas the Spider 2 features front and rear disc brakes with electric assistance.

In terms of range, the Achilleus, powered by a 60V 35Ah lithium-ion battery, claims an official range of 69.9 miles / 112 km, tested at 64 miles / 102 km. But the Spider 2 has an even bigger range of 75 mi / 120 km.

Both scooters showcase solid construction, with the Achilleus emphasizing its exceptional braking system. At the same time, the Spider 2 prioritizes a balance of features, offering commendable speed and climbing capability.

If you prefer reliable and balanced performance across various aspects the Dualtron Spider 2 is the perfect option for you.

Choose the Dualtron Achilleus if you want a higher top speed.

Build quality

The build quality of the Dualtron Spider 2 is a testament to the brand’s commitment to durability and performance.

The frame and handle, crafted from aviation-grade 6082-T6 aluminum alloy, contribute to the scooter’s lightweight yet robust structure. The SCM440 steel shaft adds further strength to critical components, ensuring stability and resilience during rides. The incorporation of plastic covers complements the overall design while providing additional protection.

Having personally examined the materials during my ride, I can vouch for the sturdiness of the construction.

Features

fender and kickstand spider 2

Let’s dive in and explore the features of Dualtron Spider 2.

Tires

rare tire spider 2

The Dualtron Spider 2 doesn’t compromise on traction, featuring robust 10-inch x 2.25 tires equipped with inner tubes to enhance adherence.

The choice of these tire specifications aligns with the scooter’s overall commitment to performance and rider safety. During my ride, I noticed excellent grip and stability, especially on varied terrains.

Brakes

spider 2 brakes

Both the front and the rear wheel are equipped with efficient disc brakes, featuring electric assistance for enhanced control during deceleration.

During my ride, I experienced the responsive braking system firsthand, providing a reassuring sense of security, especially when navigating through varying terrains and speeds.

The braking system has undergone an upgrade for the Spider 2, now boasting full hydraulic Zoom brakes. With ABS standard and 140mm disks, the Dualtron Spider 2’s braking capabilities are more than good – they’re great!

Suspension

dualtron spider 2 suspension

The Dualtron Spider 2 prioritizes rider comfort with its advanced suspension system.

Boasting “new generation Minimotors” cartridge suspensions at both the front and rear, the scooter provides a smooth and controlled ride.

During my personal experience, I found the rubber cartridge suspension to be highly effective, mitigating bumps and vibrations on diverse surfaces. I barely felt any bumps or potholes, even the bigger ones

Controller

controller spider 2

The Dualtron Spider 2 stands out with its innovative design, particularly in the relocation of the controller to the new spiderweb kicktail.

This strategic move optimizes the deck space.

My personal experience with this configuration revealed a substantial increase in usable deck space, providing a more comfortable and versatile riding experience.

Display

dualtron spider 2 display

The Dualtron Spider 2 is equipped with a large and easy-to-read EYE display manufactured in-house by Minimotors.

The display shows all important data, such as speed, current gear, daily distance traveled (TRIP), total distance traveled (ODO), and the current battery charge level.

Thanks to its high brightness output, the display stays legible even at night and in adverse weather conditions.

Lights

From stem lighting to side panel lights and logo lights, the scooter features programmable LEDs that enhance both aesthetics and functionality.

During my rides, I appreciated the well-integrated dual LED headlights illuminating the path ahead, ensuring clear visibility in various lighting conditions.

The addition of a new integrated tail light with a brake light further enhances safety, signaling my deceleration to those behind me.

Dimensions, weight, and weight limit

deck dualtron spider 2

The Dualtron Spider 2 impresses not only with its performance but also with its practical dimensions.

Dualtron Spider 2 official weight is 55 lbs / 25 kg.

These are the dimensions when folded and unfolded:

Folded Dimensions: 44.88 in (length) x 23.82 in (width) x 18.90 in (height)

Unfolded Dimensions: 44.88 in (length) x 23.82 in (width) x 48.82 in (height)

Considering its portability, the scooter’s weight limit of 265 lbs / 120 kg ensures a broad range of riders can enjoy its features without compromising performance. Still, this is not the best scooter for heavy adults out there, as its weight limit is, well, a bit limited.

Accessories

One of the most important, coolest accessories you should consider is the fingerprint lock. But still, you should also consider getting a strong scooter lock anyway, as this is quite an expensive scooter, and having many security layers is a smart decision.

With the speed that Dualtron Spider 2 possesses, having a helmet is a must.

Take this seriously and always wear it when riding, as the scooter has crazy acceleration and power. Check out the guides on electric scooter helmets and electric scooter accessories to find some good items.

Problems and tradeoffs

While the Dualtron Spider 2 offers an array of impressive features, it’s essential to acknowledge a couple of areas where tradeoffs or challenges might be observed.

A notable consideration with the Dualtron Spider 2 is the inclusion of plastic components.

While these contribute to the scooter’s weight reduction and cost-effectiveness, some users may raise concerns about the long-term durability of specific plastic parts.

Also, even though the lighting system of the Dualtron Spider 2 is overall commendable, it’s worth noting that certain lights may appear dim.

Of course, you’re probably already aware that this is not a lightweight scooter, and carrying it around or storing it will not always be easy.

Verdict

When it comes to Dualtron scooters, and especially the Dualtron Spider 2, the choice is simple.

Do you want insane performance, high speeds, super-long ranges, and stellar climbing angles?

Then go with the Dualtron Spider 2.
