When to buy
Get the Mercane Jubel if you want stability, safety, and a lot of ride comfort. Also consider it as a solid beginner scooter.
When not to buy
This is not a very powerful scooter, so expect casual performance.
In this review, we will explore the Mercane Jubel and my experience in testing it. This is one of the most interesting scooters of the last few years, so we’re gonna have some fun. Let’s go!
Basics
When the scooter’s box arrived it was all wrapped up in black plastic cover. The process of unboxing was easy and in the box, there was the scooter folded.
First, you need to unfold the scooter and the handlebars.
Inside the box, you will find the user manual, the charger, and the key.
Performance
Let’s take a look at the performance of Mercane Jubel.
Motor and motor power
The Mercane Jubel’s power is driven by a robust front motor rated at 500W, with an impressive peak performance reaching 800W. This advanced motor provides substantial power for efficient urban commuting and ensures a dynamic riding experience.
Speed and speed test
The official speed of Mercane Jubel is 25 mph / 40 kmh.
This impressive velocity ensures swift and efficient urban commuting, allowing riders to easily navigate city streets.
During my test ride in a few situations, I actually somehow achieved even higher top speed up to 26.5 mph / 42.6 kmh.
In my opinion, this is a great speed for cruising around and commuting, but if you’re a more advanced rider, it might get a bit boring at times, especially if you have long stretches of clear road to cover, and if you’re a speed enthusiast you’re probably after something more. You can take a look at my list for fastest electric scooters and find something more suitable.
Range and range test
The official range of Mercane Jubel is 39.7 mi / 64 km. I got around 34 mi / 54 km in my range tests, which is close enough I guess.
if you are looking for an electric scooter with a bigger range check my article on the best long-range scooter.
Climb and climb test
On inclines, electric scooters equipped with larger wheels often exhibit a slower uphill pace.
I was pleasantly surprised that the Mercane Jubel achieved an average speed of 9 mph on my steep hill test (around 15 degrees), starting from a standstill.
The Mercane Jubel proves itself adept at conquering hills typically encountered in urban environments, demonstrating a reliable uphill performance that meets the demands of city commuting.
If you are looking for electric scooter with better climb angle, see my guide on the best scooters for climbing hills.
Battery and charging
The credit for the respectable range goes to the 48V 15Ah, 720Wh battery powering the Mercane Jubel.
However, there’s a bit of a downer as the battery incorporates generic cells, which might have implications for overall battery longevity.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the relatively substantial size of the battery, prompting a desire for the inclusion of dual charge ports to expedite the recharging process.
Speaking of charging, the Jubel requires 6 to 8 hours to go from an empty to a full battery.
Ride experience
The Jubel offers a smooth ride, making it ideal for beginners. Its effortless maneuverability, especially in turns, enhances the overall experience. With a perfect balance of speed and range, it provides enough thrill without compromising safety.
The reliability of this scooter makes it a standout choice for those just entering the electric rideable scene.
Marcane Jubel vs other scooters
Let’s take a look at how Marcane Jubel compares to other scooters in the same price category.
Marcane Jubel vs Apollo Explore
The Apollo Explore and Mercane Jubel cater to different preferences.
The Explore offers a higher top speed, slightly shorter range, and faster charging time, making it suitable for those seeking speed and agility.
In contrast, the Jubel provides an extended range, larger wheels for added stability, and a slightly more compact folded size, making it an ideal choice for riders prioritizing longer journeys and portability.
The decision between the two hinges on individual priorities, whether it be speed and agility or extended range and maneuverability.
vs Zero 10
The Zero 10 boasts formidable power, with a top speed of 40 kmh / 65 kmh and a remarkable 35-degree climb degree, making it an ideal choice for riders seeking an exhilarating and versatile urban commuting experience.
Its powerful 1600W peak motor, ABS-equipped brakes, and front and rear spring suspension contribute to a smooth and controlled ride across various terrains.
The LCD and foldable design enhance user convenience, while the 30 mi / 48 km range provides ample coverage for urban commutes.
With a focus on power and agility, the Zero 10 stands out as a high-performance electric scooter for riders who prioritize speed and versatility.
On the other hand, the Mercane Jubel emphasizes extended range and portability, making it a suitable companion for riders looking to cover longer distances on a single charge.
With a top speed of 25 mph / 40 kmh and an impressive 39.7 mi / 64 km range, the Jubel is designed for efficient urban commuting and exploration.
Its unique features, such as the 12-inch pneumatic tires for stability and a compact foldable design, enhance its suitability for maneuvering through city streets.
The Jubel also prioritizes rider comfort with its electronic regenerative brakes, LED lighting system, and responsive color LCD control panel.
This scooter’s emphasis on longer rides and ease of portability makes it an excellent choice for those who value extended range and practicality in their electric scooter experience.
Build quality
The aesthetic design of the Mercane Jubel scooter exudes a sense of minimalism and sophistication, showcasing clean lines and a sleek appearance.
The cable management is meticulously executed, with wires discreetly guided through the stem, ensuring both safety and a visually appealing layout.
Crafted from hydroformed metal, the scooter exhibits a tidy and robust structure.
Features
Let’s look at the Marcane Jubel’s suspensions, brakes, tires, and other features.
Controller
The scooter is equipped with an 18 Amp controller.
With an 18 Amp rating, the Jubel strikes a balance between power and energy efficiency, making it suitable for urban commuting and recreational riding.
Brakes
The braking system on the Mercane Jubel scooter comprises a front drum brake and a rear disc brake. The inclusion of a front drum brake is appreciated for its inherent smoother braking characteristics, minimizing the risk of abrupt stops that could propel the rider forward over the handlebars.
It has been suggested that the scooter incorporates regenerative braking, but I couldn’t detect any. This potential feature adds to the scooter’s appeal by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy during braking, contributing to energy efficiency.
Tires
The Mercane Jubel comes with 12-inch pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are filled with air, which provides a more comfortable ride than solid tires. They also absorb bumps and vibrations better, which can help to reduce fatigue and improve safety.
The Mercane Jubel tires are 4.5 inches wide, which provides a good balance of stability and maneuverability. The wide tires also help to improve traction, which can be important in wet or icy conditions. These are arguably the widest tires in the game right now (excluding fat tire scooters, of course).
The Mercane Jubel tires are tubeless, which means that they do not have an inner tube. Tubeless tires are generally more durable and easier to repair than tubed tires, and they suffer from flats less.
The Mercane Jubel tires are a good choice for riders who want a comfortable, stable, and safe ride. They are also a good choice for riders who live in areas with rough roads or poor weather conditions.
Lights
The Jubel’s well-integrated lighting system shines bright both day and night, with a potent LED headlight leading the way, optional daytime running lights for extra road presence, and a rear taillight-brake combo backed by a high-mounted flasher for ultimate visibility.
Turn signals ensure clear communication, while optional deck lighting adds a cool touch and further boosts side visibility. This comprehensive setup keeps you safe and stylish, no matter the hour.
Display
The Mercane Jubel’s display is your trusty cockpit companion, offering a clear and concise overview of your ride.
Imagine a bright LCD panel showcasing your current speed, battery level, riding mode (eco or power!), cruise control status, and even helpful fault notifications if something needs attention. It’s like having a miniature dashboard at your fingertips, keeping you informed and confident while you glide along.
Weight, dimensions, and weight limit
The Mercane Jubel electric scooter boasts a weight of 48 lbs / 22 kg, striking a balance between portability and stability.
When shipped, the scooter is securely packaged in a box with dimensions of 52 x 12 x 22 inches. The box itself has a weight of 60 lbs, encompassing the scooter’s weight along with packaging materials.
These are the dimensions when folded and unfolded:
Unfolded: 48 in x 22.5 in x 50 in
Folded: 20.5 in x 9,5 in x 50 in
Accessories
Always wear a good helmet (or a sturdy bike helmet if you’re not going too fast). Check out my guide on the best electric scooter helmets for more info.
For extra safety, think about getting some motorcycle armor or at least knee and elbow pads. See my guide on the best electric scooter accessories for some good options to stay safe and enjoy your rides.
Additionally, if you intend to leave the scooter outside or find it challenging to bring it home daily due to its weight, it’s essential to get a reliable scooter lock.
Problems and downsides
One notable tradeoff is the initial acceleration, which may feel softer for some riders. This characteristic could impact the scooter’s responsiveness, particularly for those seeking a more dynamic and swift takeoff.
Additionally, the Jubel’s design, while eye-catching, could benefit from a more modern stem latch to enhance overall functionality and ease of use. Another trade-off to consider is the scooter’s larger wheels, contributing to excellent stability but potentially making it less portable compared to other single-motor electric scooters.
Verdict
The Mercane Jubel electric scooter presents itself as a stylish and stable option with an eye-catching design.
The 12-inch air-filled tires contribute to a very smooth and controlled ride, while the spacious and grippy deck ensures rider comfort. Also, the width of the tires is the key aspect of this scooter, and it will ultimately make the decision for many – if you’re looking for the widest-tire electric scooter available, with the best balance, stability, safety, and ride comfort, than the Mercane Jubel should be a strong consideration.
