When we ask “how long does an electric scooter charge last”, we’re talking about the time that a battery charge will last from the moment it is fully charged to the moment that it is fully discharged, while the scooter is being ridden.
How long does an electric scooter charge last?
On average, an electric scooter battery charge will last around 2 hours in power-saving mode. However, this can vary from about half an hour, all the way up to 6 hours or more. If riding at full speed in the fastest mode, the charge will last 50 minutes on average, ranging from just a few dozen minutes, up to 2 and a half hours, depending on the model.

Let’s see which scooters have the longest-lasting charges.

This is very imprecise data, and should only be used for illustrative purposes. Very few brands announce this information, so for the majority of the scooters, it was calculated according to the formula explained below. The calculated values have the “~” sign before them.
Anyway, this table still paints a picture of which scooters have the longest-lasting charge times. Let’s go over some of them.
Emove Cruiser

The electric scooter with the longest battery life is the EMove Cruiser. A truly brilliant, high-end, high-quality scooter. It is no surprise that this scooter has about 100 kilometers of range on a single charge, and yet it costs only $1499 (other scooters with that kind of range cost well above $2000!).
The EMove Cruiser is a true range machine, but its maximum speed is also formidable at 45 km/h.
Amazing value for money, if your budget is in the middle price range, the EMove Cruiser is a great choice. If you want to learn more about this great scooter, check the EMove Cruiser review.

Joyor LR8

Joyor is a brand that seems to be on the rise. Creating very performant scooters in the budget to the mid-price range, they offer a big selection of models. In fact, you can see a lot of them on this list, many near the top. That should give you an idea about what kind of brand Joyor is.
The Joyor LR8 has a spectacular range of 73 kilometers on a single charge! Priced at $799, it may as well be the longest-range scooter for under $800.
Since the range is usually tightly related to battery life, we can confirm that this scooter has a long battery life indeed.
EcoReco M5
One of the things that the EcoReco brand does best is batteries. Their focus is clean, green energy, and you can trust that their scooters will have high-quality, high-performing batteries that will last a lot.
The EcoReco M5 model should take you on a two-hour-long ride even if you ride it with its maximum speed. It is not a crazy powerful scooter, but it has a decent range of 32 kilometers, and you can expect your battery to last you quite a while before you need to replace it.
Xiaomi M365 Pro

Riding the Xiaomi M365 Pro regularly for 4 and a half hours is very possible. In fact, this number is probably bigger, since riding at full speed is possible for about 3 hours, even though our data here suggests almost 2.
The Xiaomi M365 Pro is likely the most popular electric scooter in the world right now. Its predecessor, the Xiaomi M365, although also a great scooter, had a few issues, mainly shorter battery life and less range. Xiaomi almost doubled the battery life in the Pro model.
There is a reason why the Xiaomi M365 Pro is one of the most popular scooters ever. It is a budget scooter, costing only around $550, and it still has 45 kilometers of range. That’s just part of the story, the model has proven itself out there, on the field, tested both by owners and ride-sharing users.
It is almost impossible to go wrong with the Xiaomi M365 Pro. If you are on a budget, make it your choice and you will not look back. See the Xiaomi M365 Pro review if you want to find out more about one of the most successful scooters ever.

Speedway Leger

Speedway scooters are produced by Minimotors USA, the same company that produces Dualtron, which are possibly the most powerful electric scooters today.
The Dualtrons are crazy powerful, very expensive scooters. The Speedway series is a more accessible, more regular set of electric scooters. Minimotors USA still applies the hard-earned lessons from building powerful expensive scooters, but they try to keep the price more affordable.
The Speedway Leger costs around $1050, and for that price, you get a very good balance between range and maximum speed. Easily one of the best scooters around the $1000 mark, the Speedway Leger is a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable scooter from a trusted brand.

How to calculate how long will an electric scooter battery charge last?
You can calculate how much time will your battery last on a single charge rather simply. It will not be 100% accurate all the time, but it will be a great estimate, and it will be the best you can do with the information available.
The result will let you know how much time can you ride the scooter with the motor working close to its maximum power.
The information we need to find this out is the charge capacity of the battery in Ampere-hours (Ah) and the current with which the motor works expressed in Amperes.
The formula is very simple – you just divide the charge capacity of the battery with the motor current:
Battery life on one charge (h) = Battery charge capacity (Ah) / Motor current (A)
Formula for calculating battery life per one charge
The trouble here is often finding out the motor current.
Not a lot of manufacturers list this information for some reason.
They usually list the motor power (expressed in Watts, or W), which can be used to find out the motor current. To do that, however, we still need to motor voltage (expressed in V for Volts). By dividing the power with the voltage, we get the current.
Current (A) = Power (W) / Voltage (V).
Still, this information is also not always easily available. Many manufacturers list motor voltage, but most do not. In that case, the best we can do is take the battery’s output voltage and subtract a few volts, hoping to get close to the motor’s voltage.
This is already very imprecise, and it will be more of an educated guess than a true measurement. Still, it will be better than nothing.
How to make my electric scooter charge last longer?
There are a few useful tips to keep in mind if you wish your battery charge to last you longer.
If you ride in “power-saving” mode, you make sure you keep the battery charged for as long as possible. This is also called “eco” or “smart” mode. It’s always the first and most economic mode on your electric scooter.
If not riding at night, turn off your scooter’s lights. Always keep this in mind, if you forget your lights on when you don’t need them, they can drain the charge faster than you could believe.
This goes for other electronics like indicators, bluetooth, anything that uses the battery and you don’t need at the moment.
Reducing the load of your scooter will also make sure you get the longest charge possible. The more weight the scooter has to pull, the more power it will use to cover the same distance.
These are somewhat basic tips, but they add up to a lot.
How long does a battery charge last vs range
Electric scooter range is essentially the same as how long does a battery charge lasts. In fact, range is a more useful measurement, as it gives you more than an almost arbitrary time value which is very imprecise – it actually provides you the distances you will be able to cross on a single battery charge.
Both range and how long does a battery charge lasts depend on many different factors, including speed and speed mode. They will be closely related, but still, range is a much more useful predictor.
Electric scooters for adults will have ranges from 10 kilometers, all the way up to 150 kilometers. Averaged across all models, we get a number of around 46 kilometers, though the real average for the majority of popular and affordable scooters will be somewhere closer to 36 kilometers.
Check out the full guide on the electric scooters with the best range to get an even better picture of which scooters will be able to give you the longest rides, or the electric scooter range calculator for a precise way to determine the real range of your scooter.
